Gwiji Chama

Chama1 – noun, etymology – Swahili

1 An informal loans and savings group that pools together the financial resources of its members to be distributed amongst other members at a low-interest rate.

Our Gwiji Chama program aims to spur the economic empowerment of women under Gwiji by inculcating a culture of saving and investment. We recognize that cleaning is not an occupation that one can sustain into old age and, with this in mind, we teach our women to save their surplus incomes and invest in their futures.

To aid them in their entrepreneurial journeys, we plan on increase their income-generating potential by elevating our best cleaners to work in offices, and offer customized cleaning services to premium clientele. Broadening our scope to these areas will increase their surplus incomes, placing them in positions to save, procure medical insurance for their families and, educate their children to university level and beyond.
